Every kind word can change someone’s life.

The other day, I had the opportunity to make a Say Something compliment to someone. The woman at the registration desk at our doctor’s office was very cheerful and it seemed that she liked her job. I thought how delightful she was and then realized I should tell HER, but being an introvert, I didn’t say anything.

I walked away to sit down and immediately regretted my silence. I promised myself that on my way out after the appointment, I would Say Something. It’s hard enough to talk to strangers when we NEED to, but saying something ”unnecessary” is even harder. We don’t HAVE to compliment someone. Or do we?

Let’s make honoring the good things people say and do, how they help us or make us feel good, a NECESSITY. On my way out, I pointed at a vase of fabric sunflowers with a sign reading “Sunflower state of mind” and said, “This is appropriate for you, because you are a ray of sunshine!”. She was thrilled and so was I.
